Promotional Film for Rougemont School. Newport, South Wales

Promotional Film for Rougemont School. Newport, South Wales

This is a short promotional film that we produced film that we produced for Rougemont School in Newport, South Wales. It is what’s referred to as an ‘Interview based’ film. We were asked to interview key staff members and pupils at the school and they told us in their own words what they thought the strengths of the school were. These unscripted snippets of dialog make the film feel natural and flowing and the viewer feels more empathy with the staff that they would on a ‘presenter based’ film. If you would like to speak to us about creating a promotional video for your company or organisation, feel free to get in touch for an informal...
The Duchess of Cambridge visits the office.

The Duchess of Cambridge visits the office.

There was some excitement on the park today as Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to Mamhilad Business Park. In fact the the very next office to ours the Mental Health Charity MIST. Kate first visited Torfaen, where she was greeted by Mayor Veronica Crick. The Duchess was introduced to MIST, a child and adolescent mental health project that works specifically with children who are living in care with foster families or birth families. Kate learnt how the service helps both the young person and their carer or birth family to address complex mental health needs, to avoid the child being placed in residential or institutional care. With cameras always at the ready myself and my office manager Aimee grabbed some photographs and video whilst managing to elbow the over enthusiastic...
BBC Three – Amazing Humans

BBC Three – Amazing Humans

It was such a pleasure to work with this guy as part of the BBC’s Amazing Humans series. With his tattoos, leather jacket and goatee, Ric is in many ways the image of a classic biker. However, several times a week he does something amazing – he sings to dementia patients at a local centre, encouraging them to sing and dance along and evoking magical memories of their...
The Aston Martin DBS. Promotional Video

The Aston Martin DBS. Promotional Video

This month we were asked to create a short promo film for the chairman of the Aston Martin Owners Club UK. Yes, that’s right, chasing supercars with drones. We spent a few hours at the top of the Blorenge mountain in Pontypool. There are some incredible views and more importantly, very quiet...
Cow Robots – a Promotional Film for DeLaval

Cow Robots – a Promotional Film for DeLaval

This week we have mostly been filming Cow Robots. Yes you ready that correctly, although you probably have conjured up a different image than you were supposed to. A company called DeLaval asked us to create some promotional films for them that would showcase their VMS system, basically robots that milk cows. We spent the whole week travelling up and down the country visiting farmers that have installed the system as well as visiting farms that use DeLaval’s parlour milking system. This is the resulting film. It’s what we call an ‘Interview’ based film where the main narrative of the film is taken from the dialog we captured talking to real customers of DeLaval. We used these interviews and a combination of ground and aerial filming to create a promotional film that would be displayed on DeLaval’s stand in an exhibition at the NEC. If you would like to talk to us about creating a promotional video for your company or product, please get in touch and we can talk about the various...
Aerial Filming in Cardiff Castle – Aerial Photography Wales

Aerial Filming in Cardiff Castle – Aerial Photography Wales

We were asked to create a promotional film a few weeks ago for the the National Museum of Wales. They were holding an event by the Welsh National Opera in the museum and we were asked to create a short film showcasing the day. We covered the event with multiple cameras and created an interview based film that will be posed shortly. For the opening sequence of the film I suggested that we try and get come aerial filming done of the museum as this always gives the promo film that added production value. After liaising with Cardiff Council’s film unit they suggested that the best place to fly from that will allow us to adhere to the minimum distance rules would be the grounds of Cardiff Castle and Bute Park. We got to the Castle at sunrise so that it was still closed to the public and managed to grab some fantastic shots for the promotional film. While we were there we took the opportunity to grab some aerial photographs of the Cardiff and the castle. Here are some of the...
Aerial Photography within Controlled Airspace

Aerial Photography within Controlled Airspace

Today we are taking some photographs of the incredible Fonmon Castle, just outside Cardiff in South Wales. The bride and groom, Rebecca and Leigh asked us to capture some aerial images of the venue during their wedding day. Before any aerial photography commission, it is standard practice for us to carry out several safety checks before we are happy the flights can be made safely. The first of which is an ‘Offsite Survey’ which involves Google Earth, Ordinance Survey maps and a website called Skydemonlight.com. Sky Demon shows us in detail all of the controlled and restricted airspace in the UK and it will tell us if the location lies within either of them. For Fonmon Castle the initial Google Earth search showed us that there was probably no need to head over the Skydemonlight.com. It was clear that the venue was VERY close to the end of the runway at Cardiff Wales Airport and obviously within the Cardiff CTA (Controlled Airspace). Cardiff Air Traffic Control have written detailed procedures on the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) within their controlled airspace and welcome phone calls to the tower requesting permission to fly within it. I called the tower and explained when I was intending to fly, the type of aircraft I was going to use and gave details of the location, distance and height that I’d like to fly at. Also I gave details of my CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) Permission for Aerial Work. This is a legal requirement in order to operate UAVs professionally. It isn’t a legal requirement to have the CAA license to fly a drone...
